Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 12, 2026
This policy explains what personal information The Birthday Smiles Project collects through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to www.birthdaysmilesproject.com.
Information we collect
If you fill in the volunteer form, your browser shows the details you type, such as your name, email address, and the role you are interested in. This website does not store form submissions and does not send them to a database. To reach us you must email us directly, and we then hold whatever you choose to send us.
We do not collect payment information, we do not run advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising or any other purpose.
How we use information
We use the information you email us only to reply to you, to coordinate volunteering or partnership, and to keep records we are required to keep. We keep it only as long as needed for those purposes, then delete it.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses only the cookies strictly necessary for the page to load and work. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Our hosting provider may keep short-lived server logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability.
Children's privacy
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Information about a child who takes part in a celebration is collected offline, only with written consent from a parent, legal guardian, or partner organization, and is never published without that consent. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act and comparable laws, you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it, or delete it. Email us and we will respond within 45 days. If we decline, you may appeal by replying to our response, and you may contact the Office of the Texas Attorney General.
We do not sell personal data, we do not process it for targeted advertising, and we do not use it for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Security and third parties
We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold, though no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We rely on service providers for web hosting and email, and they may process information on our behalf under their own privacy terms. Our Instagram page is operated by Instagram and is governed by its privacy policy, not ours.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our organization grows or as the law changes. We will revise the date at the top of this page whenever we do.
